Home » The Dissenter comment section bookmarklet |
The Dissenter comment section is a "hidden" web comment section hosted on Dissenter.com which allows you to comment on any website where comments are banned otherwise (e.g. a newspaper article or a YouTube video with disabled comments). E.g. this is the Dissenter comment section for YouTube.com. This is the project of the Gab AI, Inc., perhaps the best known for its Gab social network (an alternative to Twitter).
There used to be the Dissenter extensions for Chrome and Firefox, but they got banned by both Google and Mozilla (which was a pure coincidence, of course).
Now the Dissenter comment section can only be officially accessed through the Dissenter browser (a clone of the Brave browser, which in turn is a clone of the Chromium browser). The problem is that almost no one uses the Dissenter browser, so the Dissenter comment section is pretty much dead.
With this bookmarklet you can access the Dissenter comment section in (almost) any browser.
This bookmarklet allows you to access the Dissenter comment section for every website in a simple and convenient way.
Just install the bookmarklet and click on it when you're on a website or an article you want to comment on. The browser will switch to the Dissenter comment section. When you're done, click on the bookmarklet again and the browser will switch back to the original website (or you can just use the "go back" button in your browser :-).
I heavily recommend to use this bookmarklet on desktop / laptop. On mobile devices (smartphones / tablets) the usage of bookmarklets is quite clumsy and limited.
Simply drag this link onto your bookmarks bar: Dissenter
If your bookmarks bar isn't enabled, press Ctrl + Shift + B to enable it.
If you're on a Mac, press Command + Shift + B.
On mobile the usage of bookmarklets is less convenient. Also, AFAIK, bookmarklets don't work in the current Firefox browser. On any Chromium-derived browser (Chrome, Samsung Browser, Opera, Brave...), this should work.
I have no idea about Safari (iOS).
Modern browsers, due to potential abuse, do not support the feature of creating bookmarks automatically, so you have to create the bookmark manually.
Now, the only way to activate the bookmarklet is to start typing the bookmarklet's name into your URL bar, and once you see it in the suggestions, tap on it (when you access the bookmarklet through the bookmarks menu, it won't work).
Tip: If you name the bookmarklet e.g. "DDDDDDDDDD", you will be able to access it quickly just by tapping one letter on the virtual keyboard.
If you don't trust the above bookmarklet code, you can examine the original source code and transform it into the bookmarklet by yourself, e.g. by using this tool.
